Planning and Urban Design
RW Armstrong’s long-term approach to planning, within all of our disciplines, recognizes that planning and engineering are mutually supportive and that these disciplines provide an excellent base of service for our clients. Whereas many firms focus on a single practice area, we believe each of our disciplines is strengthened by enhancement of the others. This philosophy allows us to offer the best in the areas of community planning, urban design, transportation planning, and transportation engineering.
The design process begins with the formulation of a shared vision. RW Armstrong works to build consensus and commitment, in conjunction with the client’s key staff, to develop a vision of “what-can-be” defined by the potential of “what-will-be” and creating a plan that can be realized with high-quality design and development. It is our philosophy to provide solutions that can create a special place for people to gather; enhance a site’s identity; serve as a catalyst for new development or redevelopment; and provide a stage for a variety of cultural, educational and physical activities.
Our planers and urban designers not only believe in this philosophy, but practice it daily. It is our desire to provide every community in which we work with the tools to enrich the quality of life for their residents, ultimately making it a more livable community.
